A Continuous Thread of Revelation

I am a 25 year old freelance artist working and living in the U.S. Creating art is my way of understanding and celebrating my experiences.
I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Chris Georgia at the Pop Up Gallery reception on Monday. His photographs reflect a beauty that so much of us who live in light polluted urban areas rarely ever see. The view of our universe as an environment that we are a tiny but brilliant part of rather than an abstract idea resonated very strongly with me. I could spend hours looking at his work and I encourage you all to take a look and be inspired.

If you really want to know your mind, the body will always give you a truthful reflection, so look at the emotion, or rather feel it in your body. If there is an apparent conflict between them, the thought will be the lie, the emotion will be the truth.

My current work in progress and the largest painting I’ve done to date. It illustrates the impact my words have on my emotional and spiritual state and how my emotional and spiritual state affect the words I put out into the world. Four months of work and counting, I have no idea when I’ll be finished so instead of worrying about that, I’m going to enjoy what I’m creating and do my best to stay present and joyful throughout the whole process.

Using old photos of my mother when she was my about my age and still living in the Congo, I wanted to create a painting that paid tribute to her indomitable character and joyful personality. Framed and ready, they are for sale tonight at SOLD: A One Night Pop-Up Exhibition!
